ANTONIO
LIZANA
Flamenco Singer & Jazz Saxophonist
Antonio Lizana, originally from southern Spain, is one of the essential figures in flamenco jazz. A jazz saxophonist, flamenco singer, and composer, he has given more than 500 concerts in forty countries. His new album Vishuddha, released in the fall of 2023 on the French label Cristal Records, has enjoyed great critical success and earned him the cover of Jazz News magazine.
Antonio was one of the few Spanish artists to record a Tiny Desk live session (NPR) and has collaborated with artists such as Arturo O'Farrill and Alejandro Sanz in works that have received Grammy Awards, as well as with Snarky Puppy, Marcus Miller, Chano Domínguez, Alfredo Rodríguez, Ari Hoenig, Jorge Drexler, India Martínez, Jorge Pardo, Shai Maestro, Chambao, José Mercé, Josemi Carmona, Carmen Linares, Pepe Habichuela...
On stage, the native of Cádiz transports us from the roots of flamenco to the most inventive jazz, with, as Andalusian culture dictates, a hint of Moorish sounds and a touch of gypsy culture. Palmas, jaleos, powerful Cádiz singing, jazz, and sophisticated improvisations make each Antonio Lizana concert an unforgettable journey.
